Trans 101 Resources

It is very likely if you are based on a college campus that they have a gender-based or LGBTQ resource center on campus. Get to know these people and the resources they offer!

​

Here are two examples from UC Davis and Rutgers.

 

Other resources outside of academia, like the Sylvia Rivera Law Project can help provide context for you about the other aspects of living while Trans beyond the experiences Trans* people have in professional or collegial settings.

Two of the advisory board members, Jakita O. Thomas and Yolanda Rankin coauthored this piece about the origins of the concept of intersectionality and its current uses (and misuses) within the field of HCI. 


Here is a resource that comes from the UC Irvine faculty recruitment toolkit. It helps define terms like “microaggression” and provides some examples about how to avoid committing one.
